Default is it crazy?

okay, i have a jeep jk unlimited...and im here in the states...wishin i had a crd
but....could i take the 2.8 turbo diesel from a jeep liberty, and drop it in the jk?
idk if anyone has done it, if so...tell me..show me.
but i think a diesel in a jeep would be amazing and more than worth it.

"drop in". No, could you "make it work", more than likely. From what I understand, it is far from a drop-in swap. I do not have any in depth info however.

I would find the price, and decide what your time is worth. Then compare that to the proven HEMI. Though if you do it, it should be really cool

Not sure if the cost would be worth the effort. Have you looked at the cost yet?

I am definitely going to look into this because the Liberty CRD used the NSG-370 manual transmission just like the JKs. This means that there is the possibility that you -might- be able to just unbolt the 3.8L engine and electronics, make new motor mounts (or even just order the engine mounts for the CRD wrangler from Chrysler), and then bolt everything back up! Unfortunately things are almost never that easy...

I will report back if I figure anything additional out and good job for bringing that possibility up

Doesn't AEV use that engine for the J8?
