Cost of Mod Installation

Cost of Mod Installation
Im looking into getting my first Jeep, and looking at mods (bumpers, lifts, tires, etc.) and realizing that im not going to install some things.
When paying a local 4X4 place to instal these mods, do they typically have set prices, charge a percentage, or a by the hour kinda thing.
Do these shops typically provide a warranty on their work, and if so, have you guys experienced any problems with the honoring of "said warranty"
Am i better off buying a few 's for someone with a few tools and knocking it out in a weekend?
thanks

I have always done the work myself. When I wanted my F-350 lifted they wanted and additional $600.00 for all the work. The work included a few other things as well. I decided to do the work with my son and a buddy. I saved $600.00 and had a great time doing the work.
If you have the tools and a buddy or two, I would consider going that route. My two cents.

I recently installed mine, study and review the many Write ups plus opinions available on this forum. Then hook up with a couple good friends for an afternoon, there's really know reason not to do the lift yourself. You'll get to know your JK better and have piece of mind that the job was done right.

Buy the tools and do it yourself.
When I got my lift I had the same question. However after reading the write-ups on this site none of the work sounded too hard. Also I figured if I am out on the trail and something breaks or loosens up I want to know what it is and how to fix it. What better way to learn about your jeep then putting it together yourself.
Also as you work on it you find more things you want to upgrade.

Also consider joining a local Jeep club! A ton of good experience there and you'll never want for anyone to lend you a hand or a tool that you need! Not to mention all the fun and commeraderie!

I'm nervous about installing my first lift on a Jeep, but I'd be way more nervous leaving it with someone else to do it. Just take your time, triple check everything and follow the write-ups, it feels awesome when your done, even with simple mods The beer tastes better afterwards too
