Consumer Reports on the JK
As some of you may know or maybe not even care Consumer Reports really doesn't care for the JK as far as relibility goes (overall score is a 17 out of 100).
BUT owner statifaction is 3rd highest amoung small SUV's scored 77 out of 100 (I know...it's a Jeep not a SUV )
Do you think that people that buy a JK have a lot of problems with them and are willing to deal with the issues because they love the rest of it?
I'm having a hard time understanding why such a difference.

You got it, my TJ left me stranded on the side of the road 3 times in the first 3000 miles. Man I really miss that thing. After that, the next 20+ thousand miles were pretty uneventful even after some hard core off roading. I really loved it. Once the teething issues are done, they seem to work well. Don't forget that the '07 is the first model year for an entirely new vehicle...there will be bugs.

whatever, I believe they're biased when it comes to domestic vs import. I agree though, who gives a crap. They may rate the cr-v #1 or w/e in suv's, but its as dull as type 4 there ^

Interesting. Why was it rated so poorly? I mean that is a really bad score. Then again I've never really held much value to Consumer Reports.

It was rated bad because they rated it as an SUV, next to vehicles like the Toyota highlander, or Lexus, and BMW.
I read the article before I picked up my JK. They said it wasn't road mannered, pretty much, and had a horrible ride.
They didn't rate the JK for what it DESIGNED to do, instead they rated it as a daily commuter vehicle.
There were no reliability ratings in it though, because it was a new model... Are you sure you're not confusing the reliability with overall test score?

They needed to add a category for ability to complete the Rubicon Trail. The Rav4 would get a 2/100.
They always used to put the H1 Hummer in it's own category. They need to do the same with the Wrangler. It is not an apples to apples comparison. Wrangler to FJ maybe.
I don't see a Miata being compared to a 911 Turbo, why compare a Honda Pilot to a Wrangler.

Consumer Reports should stick to rating microwaves and toasters. In a real world scenario any vehicle that was truly worthy of a 17 out of 100 score would be falling apart before you drove it off the lot.
Mine drives just fine on the highway. I use it as a daily driver and I have no complaints about the ride or the gas mileage. I'm at 4200 miles. If this vehicle was a 17 out of 100, I should have seen some major problems by now. I love my Jeep and no one is going to convince me that I shouldn't.
