Default Considering Trading my Rubi for a Truck...help !

My 08 Rubi Unlimited has 39K miles, and just had an antifreeze leak that cost me $100.00 to fix and needs a new gas tank (under recall) and needed to have the head gasket replaced (under ext. warranty). I am concerned that my Rubi will start having problems and will be outside of warranty....so I have been thinking that perhaps I should trade/sell my Rubi and buy a Truck (new F150 or Tundra) now before I put more miles on it or run into any major problems.

Please talk me out of this! I am thinking that a nice new shiny truck, with a more comfortable interior and a bed and plow may be better to have. I just don't know....thoughts welcome!

Get a 2012!

Buy a lifetime warranty 1800 or so online.

I concur, or at least test drive one. I test drove a '10 before I bought my '12 and the latter was definitely more comfortable. Plus, you can't have as much fun in a truck as you can a Jeep!

Been thinking the same way. I went and looked at FJ TT last weekend. The guy didn't really seem interested in selling me it. I asked about the rear locking differential and he went and opened the glass part of the trunk. The said they would come off 1200 and the asking price is 36,700. They offered me 18k trade. I think my jeep worth a little more than that. The fj sits pretty low to the ground and I don't think I would be happy sitting that low to the ground. I kinda looking at ford, again. The eco boost kinda interest me. I know the tundra are 0 for 60 months. I heard they aren't that good on gas.

Sold a 2010 Tundra for my Jeep and with winter coming and house chores I miss my truck. I will most likely sell the Jeep and get another truck sometime soon unless I can payoff the Jeep and keep it as strictly a toy...

How good was it on gas? I gave them my number in case they got a rock warrior tundra. Kinda wanna take a look at one of those. I tow a boat a lot of weekends and the jeep gets about 12mpg doing that. 100 mile round trip that adds up. LOL I know the new chevy trucks are having a lot of transmission issues. They are being discounted pretty good rightn now.

Trucks are nice but just not fun to drive. You will really miss it in the summer when all the jeeps are top and doorless and your stuck in a coffin lol. Man I have sold several jeeps and got trucks and always came back. If you like to wheel you will hate the truck unless you just like mudding...

Sounds to me like you are phasing out of the Jeep mode into wanting a different vehicle. Part of that is probably Chryslers fault, or just or bad luck, because of the problems with your Rubi.

I think it is normal for people to get bored with one thing and want something else. I know I do. While it is nice to have lots of toys, not everyone can afford to do that.

And not everyone is a diehard Wrangler addict. Get what you want. You may come back.

But for me, my Silverado, a decent basic truck has been rotting in the barn for 4 years and I am about to sell it and the plow. It is boring and feels like a bus compared to the Jeep. It's being replaced with a snow blower, and a trailer for my Jeep.

It all comes down to need.....

Do what you think is best for your particular situation. If it isn't a Wrangler...it isn't a Wrangler.

Maybe you can rock a truck now.....and in a few years...but a used Wrangler (as a 2nd/3rd vehicle) for fun?

Forget the truck. You'll loose more on trade in x2. Once when trading for the truck and then when trading back for a jk in another few months
