couple of things

1. the CEO of Chysler was on Autoweek Detroit the other week and slipped this nugget into his closing thoughts on reasons why they believe Ceribus is looking to hold for several years to increase Chryco value before selling. Should have seen the smirk on his kisser..

2. Electric motors have full torque at 0 rpm (eg starting). That is why supertankers and locomotives use diesels to generators which run electric motors for drive. Much better than fossil burning engines.

3. Do not worry about off road capability. This is nothng new. think moon rover in 1969. Talk about off road!

4. fording streams: And exactly where do you run your bass boat trolling motor?

5. Best of all. Looks like they will color match the hardtops!!!! About time!

6. Looks like the heated seats are still missing as std equipment

7. No transfer case or diffs. Lots O room underneath for rock crawling. Better than a H1

I don't know about the color match hardtops, personally they make me shudder, if I wanted "purdy" I would have bought an H2, I can hardly stand the color match fenders on my Sahara.

I would be absolutely amazed if this came out anywhere near 2010-2012. This thing is going to need some major developement not to lose the off-roading community i.e. 4WD and the ability to modify without worry. I think it is a great concept, but it is going to need an amazing amount of developement to do it right.

Don't get too excited yet, One of these will be produced for consumers in 2010,” says Chrysler chairman Bob Nardelli. Neither he nor vice chairman and president Tom LaSorda will say which one it will be, excerpt from caranddriver.com

May be sweet, but more expensive if you break it.

Wonder how much an individual electric motor would cost if you fried it or smashed it somehow on a wheel.

The red button must be the "Oh Sh*t" button when the thing starts sparkin'.

I'm not worried about an electric motor on each wheel getting in mud and water. I've seen plenty of fully sealed industrial motors that run in the worst conditions.

Just think about it, a high torque electric motor on each wheel each pulling independantly and each fully controled. No diffs to get full of water, no clutches ruined by shifting in water or mud. No automatic trans overheating.

Just running silently down the trail. Need power, just push the go petal a little more.

With the right design parameters you could make the JK EV fully submersable.
You could make each wheel turn in a different direction, right side forward, left side reverse. What would that do for tight turning on sand, dirt or mud?

If this is what is coming, I am there!
