CNBC This Morning: Electric/Gas Wrangler in 2010
This may be old news but I'm watching CNBC and they just had a segment on Chrysler's new electric vehicles coming out by 2010. They had a white Wrangler Unlimited with a small 1 liter engine coupled with electric motors on each wheel. They claimed ~400 miles per fill up/charge but I'm not sure if they were talking about the Chrysler van or the Wrangler.

400 miles per fill??
what size tank did it have. if its a 1 liter engine, maybe a 10 gallon tank?
that would be 40 miles to the gallon??
more then double what i am getting now, but the jeep wont be the same, i cant see those little electric motors powering 37" tires over rocks and stuff.
is the end coming????

1st 40 miles are electric, then the gas kicks in.
I like this idea for the commute length I have. I worry about the trade off though.
I wonder if they'll make a EV/CRD option.

How would you regear to compensate for a lift and tires? This would probably have to be designed to not get any mods like this since it probably wouldn't have a transfer case and just use the electric for power.
