Where are these sensors your talking about so next time I'll be extra careful.

I never use "degreaser" if I am not cleaning grease or oil, It is too acidic and will spot the aluminum.

A 50/50 mix of an all purpose cleaner, Mr. Clean (lemon scent) has always worked for me.

i do oil wash every oil change..no issue yet

You can use regular dishwashing liquid (mixed with water in a bucket) which is a very mild degreaser. Work it in with a small short bristled paint brush. Work with small areas at the time and rinse often. A standard pressure household hose is all you really need to rinse it off. I like to do it with a cold engine and allow to air dry for a while. You can also towel dry if you don't want water spots. Afterwards, run the engine up to temp and/or on the highway. This will dry any remaining water. Follow up with some sort of protectant mainly for rubber & plastics.
