Better, but not enough to justify upgrading from a current JK. A diesel or V8 option would be a game changer, until then, Chrysler is doing just enough to get by.

I totally agree. What's more, I would guess that 95%+ of all Wrangler miles are on pavement where 75 extra horsepower and 10% better fuel economy are noteworthy improvements. Regarding the "newness" of the Pentastar: it will have major kinks worked via the GC by the time that it's put in the JK. So...a neutral engine swap for off-roaders (because of the wide torque range) and a big uptick for on-roaders - what's the beef in that?

The problem is not the engine

The problem is this forum: 3.8 hater

With my manual Rubi, I have the gears to do rock crawling everywhere, and I have very good acceleration.
This engine never breaks, and is perfect for the JK

Though this is my first Jeep (but I've made quite a few off-road runs in my 3-1/2 years of ownership), I've never felt that it was underpowered when off-road. And, I have the X transfer case (but 4.10 gears). However, on the highway when at high altitude carrying lots of gear and headed uphill into a headwind--it needs more horsepower. Not for cruising, but for passing (IOW: More horsepower at high rev's is good). If the Pentastar fixes that, I think that's great. Not that I plan to sell my Jeep anytime soon.
