Default Christened her good Saturday (long)

I was wheeling in the NJ Pine Barren yesterday with my doors off.

While following a TJ along a trail that has a series of large puddles that were extra full from a recent rain storm, I got in a little deep.

Result; a Jeep full of muddy water that went all the way back to fill the storage cubbby in the rear.

When I got out to a wider dirt road I was swerving back and forth to slosh as much of the water out that I could. And while driving home the wind kept kicking up a muddy water spray so every part of the interior now has mud droplets spattered on it.

So anyway, I got 'er home and proceed to remove the carpet, pop out all of the drains and began hosing out the insides. I hosed the carpets as best as I could and I have them now drying in the sun. When they are dry I'll vacuum real good and see how they come out.

But I'm torn about putting the carpet back in. It seems stupid to have them if I'll be doing wheeling like that again. (which I plan to).

I've seen threads about Rino lining the interior. It seems like the thing to do. But this something that I don't want as a do it yourself project. Does any body know of a shop in the South Jersey area that does this and does it right?

Any idea of the price for this job?

As an alternative can anybody recommend a rubber liner or mats that can be dropped in to cover the floors and back.

Are the Huskey liners OK to use without carpet?

Also, I like the little storge cubby in the back. With no carpet, my jumper cables and other stuff that I keep in there is now in plain sight, Does anybody make a metal door or cover that screws or bolts on to cover that space?

I know I asking a lot of questions on this thread but I need to know which way I want to go with my Jeep from this point.

And this has always been the place to get the answers.

Thanks

P.S. Two things: That was a very nice couple from Maryland that I followed. It was their first time in the Pine Barrans. Nice just hook up with strangers and have fun. Thanks, Paul and Kim. Second; In all of the debris I had in my Jeep from the mud puddle, I found a FORD emblem. I wonder if the rest of it is at the bottom of that puddle?

Lucas In Lumberton can order this for you, and you get a discount with NJJA.

Husky liners are fine without carpet just be careful running at speed with no doors, they tend to try and fly out! Ask me how I know!!

As far as spray in liners, check out LineX, much nicer than Rhino IMO. If you strip your interior it should run you no more than $500.

You should try taking out ALL of your drain plugs. Greatly reduces puddle spray and the need to slosh around

X2 on removing all drain plugs, ditch the carpet in favor of a rubber floor liner or bedliner of some sort. If your gonna mud or go topless when raining, AWWW hell, it's a jeep, dunno why they don't bedline it factory anyway and have carpet as an option to those who want it.

That exactly how I feel about it.

I guess the carpet sells the Jeep better to non-Jeeping wives.

Yeah I should have taken photos but the I never remember to charge the batteries in my digital.

Photo of some of the people's faces at the car was yesterday when I brought her in with no top or doors and and was pressure washing the inside would have been fun too.

aw dude that doesn't look so bad..it clean up easy.

however I'm exactly where you are right now. In fact I have already bought a Herculiner DIY kit.

I'm debating on going all the way to the top of the bed or stop and follow the line at the top of the rear fenderwells. I will get entire front floor boards covered entirely. I plan on using my Husky mats still, fact I've been riding a couple of days with no carpet and only my husky front and rear mat(s).

Another concern I have is increased cab noise. I really like things not to rattle,etc....and I know its a Jeep...but its not a '70 CJ were talking about right?! Plus I like a good, tight sounding stereo. But riding with no carpet and plugs out is freaking loud.

I am thinking about spraying in some acoustic spray from Dynamat....just in some key locations, though. I hope the liner will adhese to it.

Oh yeah...btw...in regards to the storage lid. I think i might just coat it too. hell man, the product I have says it will stick to plastic, wood, metal, concrete.
