Chinese snorkel

I have had mine on for two years no fading works great i have had it submerged to top of fenders and if i smash it with a branch the i will buy a second one and still be a $ 100 bucks to the good. I will spend the money on solid quality mechanical part. It is a plastic tube that goes into your airbox. Hard core guys use pvc from home depot. I have AEV lift love it i will spend money on mechanical parts. Spending $500 on a plastic tube not my idea of smart spending.

I've been researching snorkels for a long time and finally decided on the Rugged Ridge: https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/spon...nstock-269279/
You can't beat this deal and the functionality that comes with the high and low mounts. For me, it was the better way to go.
Here's what I came across on Youtube re: the Chinese Snorkel vs. AEV. It helped persuade me not to buy the knock off. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04ZWZfNIUg0 The knock off may be a good buy for some, but in this case, I chose flexibility and my preference for the Rugged Ridge installation vs. all other snorkel models.

I thought long and hard about buying a snorkel. I went back and forth a bunch of times and finally bought the AEV Snorkel. For me it came down to the following considerations: I'm not buying this to save $200-$280, I'm buying it to save myself 1000s if I have a problem. When the time comes that I need it I want to be confident that it works exactly the way it was designed to work. With that in mind I am not willing to take the risk on relying on a product the was reengineered from the real deal. I have $380 to spend on the snorkel, I don't have 1000s to spend on a hydrolocked engine.
I like saving money and try to buy quality parts at reasonable prices. This time the AEV was a good balance for me.
This was one of the shallower water crossings we did this weekend that made me think twice about the risks I was taking. I took water over the hood once during this outing and would have paid anything for the piece of mind of an AEV during the few seconds I was waiting to see if the Jeep was going to die.
