Chinese snorkel
It's not just your underwear that's made it China. Your snorkel could be too! Found this on eBay...

I know Ludski bought one like this - hey buddy, can you give a review on yours?
Anyone else run this super cheap snorkel and would you recommend it? I'm saving up for an AEV unit but I'm a sucker for a good deal. Chime in! With or without underwear!

It's made out of a different plastic composite and it's way "softer" than the AEV other than that it's pretty much the same thing. I'm not 100% on how the fittings are on it though but for the extra $ I'd get the AEV and yes I have seen both models up close the cheap chinese shit look and feels like exactly that. It boils down to this.....If it's for looks and the just having the piece of mind then I say go for it, but if you are actually going to go through some deep water often enough to warrant a snork then go AEV.

They are identical. I have seen both up close. Is it a ripoff of the AEV product? Absolutely. Is it a ripoff that AEV charges $360 + for plastic? Absolutely.

360 isn't expensive just get the real thing.

develop a product? You can't be serious. There is no lines, re-routing of airflow etc. It is a piece of plastic that fits to your air box inlet AFTER you cut a hole in your hood. A guy made one in his garage over the weekend from scratch. The argument of comparing plastics is ridiculous. They're both plastic in the long run. Like the poster said above, if your worried about plastic go with River Raider who designed a snorkel and rerouted some of the airflow and added to their kit by designing additional hardware for the kit, and uses metal. If you want AEV, be my guest, all I'm saying is the Chinese E-bay snorkel is identical to the AEV and will deliver the same results and leave your wallet a bit fatter.

Plastic is not Plastic is not Plastic. They may hold up the same, but the sun down here will tear up a low quality plastic. To each his own, but when a chinese company just blatently copies a US design I aint buying it not going to do it. Its a principle thing, like teaching your kid cheating on a test is wrong and copying you sisters old book report is wrong.

I guess one day the magical Snorkel Stork just showed up in Montana dropping all this stuff off out fo the sky and they pulled that ungodly high price of a whole whopping $360 out of their ass so they can keep their place stocked in Crystal Meth and Hookers 24/7.
So that being said, it's all good to support Haingfu 7 plastics work in Craphole Shengzu that for all intent and purposes PIRATED AEV's property. To add insult to injury, then since the aforementioned made out of recycled milk-jugs Chinese Pirate copy doesn't have instructions you can just download AEV's own instructions (I guess bandwidth is free too).
Yup, lets support it since AEV must be an evil corporation that doesn't and hasn't supported the JK fully across multiple product lines to save a buck.
Heck, maybe they can throw in some of those cheapy knock-off Rolex's too since both keep time.
Here is a thought, how about support the people and companies that support your hobby. Or, enjoy your Mao-Tse-Tung hat as you are wheeling your ZIL copy comrade.

No development work, are you serious? Hmmm, lets see I am sure that AEV (an American company btw) didn't have to first digitize all the dimensions of the JK, then didn't have to model and render their conceptual idea in CAD to fit those dimensions from their designers, then didn't have to spend R&D money to test a HDPE polymer in a correct mil to withstand every possible environmental condition across the world. I am also sure that there was zero air flow and dyno testing to make sure of no air flow disruptions and that it works correctly with both Ram and Pre Filters. Damn, and don't forget about the tooling and extrusion die costs they didn't have to incur to get a consistent high quality product every time. Lucky too they don't have to keep lawyers on staff to protect against random litigious suits against the product, run advertising to bring the product to market, or better still help and fund SEMA, Tread Lightly or other organizations which protect our rights to this hobby.
