I think the current system discriminates against smaller dealers. Strange that priorities for build order are established by size of dealership and "allocations." Why not first-come first-served?
I'm sure they have a "think tank researched and brainstormed rationale" to argue the point.
I'm finally in KZM after 3 weeks at KZL (read- sitting in the parking lot at Toledo in the storm). Ordered 06 February... and it's not even a 4-door unlimited... just a regular ole' 2-door Rubi.

I would say what is unacceptable is the frakked up way Jeep itself handles its orders. They reward the large volume dealers at the expense of the smaller dealers. It is one thing to give some priority to high volume dealers on getting "more" product....but it is another when a CUSTOMER ordering a Jeep waits, and waits and waits simply because they ordered from a smaller dealer. There needs to be some safety valve where time in the queue over-rides the "dealer" allocation factor.
I don't think that when I am ORDERING a vehicle, one of the factors I have to take into account is whether the dealer I am ordering from is going to have "allocation" for my order or not. I expect a smaller dealer to have less inventory....and perhaps no inventory on a model for me to drive to the lot, and pick one out and buy it from the lot. But to me, if you have to order a vehicle, it shouldn't matter where you order it from...it should be processed more on a first in, first out system.
THAT would be one of the first things I would be revamping if I was buying Chrysler.

I ordered mine from a small dealer, but I think they are part of a buying group of lots of small town dealerships...kinda puzzling, the whole process....

It should be whatever hits the order system first for customers that order and then allocation for the stock orders for the lots. I don't know if there is a way to keep the dealers from pretending someone ordered it and then keeping it for stock. But I don't know any dealers that would do sometrhing that dishonest, do you?

WoooHooooo!! It's on the train! Should be here in San Diego on the week of April 23rd!!!
Here's the bad news - I'll be in Europe on business travel, so I'll have to wait a week before I get to see it.
Dealer has been understanding, we're going to get all the paperwork done this week before I leave, so it won't affect their allocation.
