Default center console arm rest question

Hi,

Has anyone found/seen a center console arm rest that is -not- just a foam pad etc, but something that sits on top of the standard console top as an arm rest and was also made to be a storage compartment where you could put pencils, paper, maybe a coin holder (locking or not locking, as I use the main console as a locking unit). So in the end you would have the main chamber and then the arm rest acts as another storage area.

Thanks in advance.

Installed this last week. Easy enough; but doesn't solve your security need.

That pad is great if you're tall and have the seat back a ways. I'm 5'7" and where I have my seat, my elbow barely touches the console.

I think your talking about the tuffy console insert. It replaces the existing storage compartment with a new secure one. It also raises the arm pad by about 1.5". Oh, it's padded too. I have had one in for about 6 months and I really like it.

Another option is the Tuffy full console.

Nope, not that...I've seen that. What I'm looking for is to keep the original console and then add something on top of it as an arm rest, but to have that arm rest as a separate storage compartment (a small one for paper/pens etc), not just all foam.

Have you thought of something like this velcro'd or 2 sided tape or something?

I got one similar at Walmart in their food storage area for like 3 bucks.

could get fancy and foam up the top if you wanted.

I have the Quadratec one and find it to be badly designed. The cushion is well made but the unit doesn't flush with the console, so tht result is only your elbow area is being supported while your forearm isn't. I ended up taking it out.

I think you have the idea....I'm looking for something like this: http://shop.advanceautoparts.com:80/...egoryCode=3509
javascript:popImage('http://www.partsamerica.com/product_images/img/out/39423.jpg',%20'Outland%2039423');

will plan on using velcro to hold it down and voila, I have an arm rest (higher than the oh too low jeep one) and localized storage....

Thanks!
Vic
