Im considering buying a cb off road kit from right channel radio and wondered if anyone could offer any advice. i have a 2012 jeep jk 4dr unlimited sport. the off road kit includes a cobra 75 handheld cb, 4 ft firestick antenna, universal mtg bkt with 18 coax, swr meter for tuning, an external speaker( I have soft top so i thought this would be useful). I added the quick disconnect and heavy duty antenna spring to the order. Folks in the jeep club either love the handheld or hate it. With limited space, i believe it will be a good option. from what i understand, bigger is not better since all cbs are 4 watts. Performance is in the antenna.. I limit my off roading to scenic trails and only use cb to communicate, so im not interested in more radio options. the cobra 75 appears to be a good choice for me. Since im new to buying a cb, i need advice from all u subject matter experts, thanks, arnie.

I have the same set up and love it. I have a transmit range of 5-8miles depending on the weather and LOS. Good dependable radio. I have not used it on the trail yet. I have the quick disconnect but not the spring; I didnt want the antenna to bounce around btwn the space the rear glass.

Check out the CB & Ham radio section... Lots of good info in there.
