Default CB Antenna Mount wrong

I ordered a CB antenna Mount from Walcot specifically the one recomended for the JK as a spare tire mount. walcottcb.com/product_info.php?cPath=284_288&products_id=1104 I installed it and put my antenna on then replaced the spare tire. Low and behold the spare hits the antenna when fully tightened down. Now I have the 18" rims and tires but even then it should not hit. I have not contacted Walcot about this yet however I wanted to let you all know you may run into trouble if you get one of these.

EDIT: Thanks Robar I did not realize it was hot linked. ADD a www. to the front when you cut and paste.

How bad does it touch? Is it suppose to touch to keep the ant. from flopping around? I know I was reading something that said that there was one built so the ant. would touch just for that reason. I can't remember where I read it or I would find it and report more for you. sorry

It actually bends it a little not much just enough to stress it some. I could solve it by drilling a new hole but I should not have to for the price.

That is true, you shouldn't. Neat bracket though, I like it.

Okay I got the response from Walcot and it was what I thought it would be. I can return it for a refund however they do not manufacture it and have had no other problems with fit. They have not had a JK in to put one on however and would love to try it out. He also said if i decide to keep it and come up with a way to make it work they would be intrested in hearing it. I guess it is time to fire up the drill and make a new hole.

i just installed the same bracket and found out the same thing as you. it is a very tight fit against the spare tire, once i put the quick disconnect on it. it all still fits, just really tightly. mine had two holes in the top of it. i had to use the innermost hole for it to fit.
if i wasn't using the quick disconnect, it wouldn't matter at all. i think it fitting tightly against the tire might stabilize it a bit more, as long as it doesn't damage the antenna or quick disconnect with the pressure on it.
right now it is just an annoyance.

I can't even use the disco without loosening the tire first mine is so tight. I want to get a picture but between checking mails and packing the office I have not had time.

My bro in law wouldn't know aluminum from a tree. (Don't tell him I said that)
