I know it's not good news but in the long run I hope it turns out. BTW I bet they keep enough stock on hand to finish orders.

I do too but I would'nt hold my breath

The Toledo Jeep Assembly complex will temporarily close because one of its main suppliers is in bankruptcy, a spokesman for Chrysler LLC said today.
The facility, which employs more than 4,000 Chrysler workers and builds Jeep Libertys and Wranglers as well as the Dodge Nitro, is being shut down because Plastech Engineered Products Inc. has filed for bankruptcy, Chrysler spokesman David Elshoff said.
Plastech, a key supplier from Dearborn, Mich., makes molded interior, exterior, and powertrain components for the Jeep Liberty, Dodge Nitro, and Jeep Wrangler, as well as for a number of other vehicles for Chrysler, Ford Motor Co., Toyota Motor Corp., and General Motors Corp.

No wonder the interiors in the Wrangler are made so cheaply. These guys have probably have been cutting corners to save money.

Hopefully, they can get their tooling equipment back. That stuff is expensive and nothing is going to happen until they get it back.

Thank God mine's on the train.
Maybe they'll get a better interior plastic supplier for '09. That would be a good thing.

Course, the problem is that nobody but a China company is probably going to be able to turn this around quickly enough. They might already be making cheap copies of them anyway! And as the article says, the Plastech was based in Michigan, so if anything it'll probably drop the percentage of USA parts.[/QUOTE]

Yea China will make them fast but the boat ride will take some time. Some day our kids kids will be suprised to hear the USA used to make JEEP's let alone a percentage of one.

It's a shame.
