Default Can a soft top go through the car wash?

I have had my hard top on since I bought my JKbut now have the soft top on.

I am wondering if the soft top will hold up in a car wash. Do you take yours through or should I just wait until it warms up to wash it by hand?

Thanks

It isn't recommended. I did it once to see how it would be (drove through so I could watch) and, while the top held up fine, it was scary enough where I wouldn't do it again-- it put a lot of weight on the top. Also, the wax that most car washes spray on the vehicles will mess up the soft top and cause it to eventually break down.

Of course, my Jeep looks sad when it's clean, anyways!

I have seen it done (rotating brush type), and I know others on here go through the touchless type. I would not do it myself.

Touchless wash should be fine. I usually got to the touchless during the winter and never had any problem... just few leaks - few drops here and there. The scariest part would be the drying part, but the top holds it fine.

I hit the touchless often during the winter months - road salt and Jeeps have a really ugly long term relationship... No issues at all - maybe a little leak in the pass rear corner where the zippers end.

Since it has been recommended not to use soap of any sort on the plastic windows I would think the detergents might have a long term effect of yellowing the windows. Once or twice might not be a big deal but I would avoid it if possible.

Either you forgo washing(like me) or you go through the do-it-yourself wash when the temperature is above freezing. Use water and clean cloth on soft windows.

As long as it doesn't have ammonia in it, you should be ok. I had avoided using any products on it for fear of screwing up the plastic. When I sold my last TJ, the windows were as clear as day 1.
