Camp Jeep

And for the record, the DC guys that are there are awesome too. I have seen engineers crawl under Jeeps to help fix them (trail rides are not overly difficult, but you get a 30 year old CJ and anything can break at anytime).
It is just an outright fun event. I always loved it when there were complete newbies in my group who I had to teach how to put their Jeep in 4 wheel drive. I had two retired ladies who came and were just teenage giddy with excitement when they had to drive through a small ditch. I just enjoyed being able to show them what their vehicle could do, and just have fun.

So i signed up for my trail rides etc. online the other week. I checked last week to see my schedule again and all of my stuff was deleted. I called and they said that they didnt know what happened and they would pass it on to a manager and he would call me. Welp.... almost a week later i am still waiting.......

The nice girl on the phone said they are about 30 minutes from Oak Ridge Estates. You will have to make your reservations online or call the 800#.

I am a big fan of Camp Jeep based on the one time I attended two years ago in PA. I would have gone last year but it was a bit too far to drive. I talked my "better half" in to going to the one in PA and I think she had a better time than I did!! I even got her to drive a portion of one of the trails. She was white knuckled the entire time but she loved it. She was hooked and we will try to go every year now.
I have family in VA that have gone to the site they are having this year's event and they said it is great and all will be attending again this year - my Aunt and Uncle and 5 cousins and all their families.
I signed up the first day they opened registration, before I even received my new Jeep. They were very accommodating and allowed me to register with my VIN number of my new vehicle even though I didn't have it yet.
I did not receive the email either when event registration opened up so I got in there late and did not get to sign up for all the events/times I wanted. I think it was the spam filter at work that did me in, not Jeep. You can sign up for events the first morning at Camp Jeep. We did not sign up until late to attend back in PA but had no problem getting on trails.
As far as where to stay, I am booked up in Charlottesville at the Days Inn. My relatives are all staying at the Lake Nelson Campground a few minutes from the entrance to Camp Jeep. I like the idea of being so close to the park and trails but I'll sacrificed the proximity for a real bed! After a long day of trail rides and other things, I do not look forward to sleeping in a tent on a mat.
I truly think if you go you will not be disappointed.

Not this time
I was hoping that I could camp out right there. I didn't realize that they didn't have a campers section. I thought that the fee we were paying included a place to camp as well.
I'm just gonna chalk it up to experiance and sign up and reserve lodging earlier next time. The money I save from not going this time will go towards my lift kit
The only thing that I really feel bad about is that I'm gonna miss out on meeting a bunch of you good folks.:whoaisme:
