buying a soft top
I have a hard top and haven't ever had a soft top installed. I'm buying a soft top today and want to make sure I get all of the parts that I need to install it. It is supposed to come with everything but I want to know what to look for.
Also, I have a Wild Boar roof rack. Anyone out there with a roof rack that can tell me how hard it is to completely drop the soft top with the rack on?
Thanks

To install softtop you need:
softtop with frame attached
brackets to mount arms to rear roll bar (you'll see flaps in your roll bar padding)
screws to mount brackets to bars, and to mount arms to brackets
door surrounds with six knob screws.

Small point, but there are also supposed to be a couple short straps. That's all I know about them since when I bought my softtop we (seller and me) overlooked these in the boxes the softtop ships in from the factory. I don't know that I've missed them--I think they're for holding the windows rolled up or the top down or something.

Thanks, Fred. Is there anything for the front, above the windshield or does it just latch the same way the freedom top does?

There is a header bar built into the softtop. There are also plastic and metal pieces that slip into groves
and slots in the door frames and into the top of the tub. But, again, these are built into the softtop. You
will also need the two plastic pieces that attach to the top of the tub above and either side of the tail
gate. And there is a metal rod that slips through the rear window, then attaches to those two plastic
pieces. Here's the best pic I have of that. This is actually for a Duster install, but the hardware is
identical.

There is an online version of MOPAR JK parts catalog that has an exploded vuew of the 2dr and 4dr hard and soft tops and everything else for that matter. It shows every part that is required to attach the soft top.
If the top you are buying, you can quickly determine the cost of the part at MOPAR sites.
