Default To buy or not....Need Advice $$$

I've liked the unlimited since I first saw them. I've been looking, but am now close to making my decision. I was quoted $23,922 , including the rebate for an unlimited X 6-speed 4x4 with the options listed below. Can anyone chime in on this price? This is a big purchase for me, so I'm not doing it lightly.

I've been driving a 1990 Toyota pickup extra cab 4x4 (300K miles) since I got out of college and started my career in law enforcement. I've loved that truck and have wheeled it in places I had no business being. But now I'm approaching my 20 year retirement, have a wife, three kids, a great dog, and the unlimited sure would come in handy. I hate to get rid of my trusty Toyota, but I think it may be time.

What do you guys think??

Default GO for it

Hi Wade! sounds like you have worked a good deal- 9% off sticker on a specialty niche vehicle like the wrangler is nothing to sneeze at. Go for it if you want it! Best of luck!

Are you going to wheel it alot?

What would the difference in price be for you for a Rubi from the same dealer.

The 44's front and back with lockers is a wonderful off road package. Considering it sounds like you are someone like me who will not be modifying the sucker. I have the Rubi and I am glad I got it. I just love driving that thing.

Also discuss the bumper to bumper life time warranty with the dealer. If you keep this jeep as long as the toyota it might pay off in the long run. I got mine for $1600 with the $100 deductable.

approaching 20 years in law enforcement, sounds like you've earned it,trust me 1st time you and family out on a nice day with the freedom top panels off you will have no regrets
as for price take a look around and compare price with other(non jeep)4 wheel drive vehicles that could carry family and dog,I think 23k is a great price for a really fun vehicle that will suit your needs very well, decent daily driver that is also a very capable off road vehicle

Default Thanks

Thanks for the replies and info. I'm getting close to making a final decision. I won't do any extreme wheeling, but we do get off road at the motocross track and beach fairly regulary, so I'm sure I'll end up with bigger tires and a lift after I wear out the first set of tires. I'm just not the kind of guy to take off brand new tires. Thanks again. Wade

sounds like a good deal to me. just bought my unlimited x last month with those options plus an auto trans for about a grand more. I too was careful with my decision since I left a year old german lux sedan with all the bells and whistles for the jeep. the decision for me was easy after i watched youtube videos and read posts on jk-forum. good luck!

Have you thought about buying a pre-owned jeep. I just bought a 2007 4dr unlimited 4x4 with the same package you are looking at (soft top). It had 6,000 miles on it. Other than that it still had the new jeep smell. Had to travel 200 miles to get it in May of 2008 but I paid 19,500 plus tax. Do a search on the web. There are some even better deals now. I never saw the sense in paying for a new vehicle and take that hit when you drive it off the lot. just my opinion.

My only downside on the one you have quoted is 3.21 rear end. If you plan on lifting it or putting on bigger tires, you would definitely have to spend the $$ to regear. Other than that, looks like a pretty good deal.

It sounds pretty good.

I thought the fogs came with 23S. $120 is $120. Check it out.
