Default BOTTLE jacks better then stock scissor?

So with my 35" tires and 4" of lift my stock jack doesn't work!!!

Should I get a Bottle jack?
OR the AEV scissor jack base stand and use it with the stock jack? What's better?
Thx again.

I have the AEV in my jeep (no hi lift yet) and like how nicely it stores. For the money and ease id go AEV for emergencies. I use a floor jack with scrap 2x4 at home for maintenance. Just my .02

There have been several posts about the stock scissor jack folding under load. It would kinda suck to have that happen on the trail. If you can fit a much sturdier bottle jack in that location, go for it, especially if you can find one with a taller max lift height.

I would suggest a Hi-Lift. That's what I use for changing tires on all my vehicles except my exstepmom's Jetta.

I hope I never need to use the stock jack, I just can't see how it would work.

A month ago we were headed home from a Patriots game and passed a Honda Ridgeline with it's 4-ways on. I asked my GF's family if it was their cousin, since we knew him and his wife went to the game too. They were all clueless. I turned around and it was them. He had a blown passenger front tire and his stock bottle jack broke (I'm guessing user error as the Ridgeline is fairly new).

I grabbed the one from the JK figuring it would be a piece of cake...WRONG. Fully extended it wouldn't lift the Ridgeline enough to get a DONUT on! By now a cop showed up and he was surprised when I told him the JK jack wouldn't lift it enough. He had just traded his in for a Tundra.

I ended up having her cousin use the bottle jack to lift the suspension just enough to get the tire on. As soon as I get the money, I'm getting a bigger jack!
