Best way to clean the engine compartment?
So my entire engine compartment is covered with dry mud (aka dirt!)from wheeling this ppast weekend. What is the best way to clean it? Pressure washer? any chemicals?

just spray the engine nice and good.
but the do it yourself wash places works awesome. engine spray leaves a nice clean look in engine.

Your engine probably isn't oily and dirty enough yet, but the spray can engine cleaners work wonders. You just spray it on a cool dry engine, let it sit for a while and then hose it off. The solvents take up all the sticky stuff that collects the dirt and dust.
But the car wash is good for regular cleaning. While you are in there you should spray out the radiator from the backside too, make sure to get down there on the transmission radiator if you have an auto.

I'll usually hose off the engine every other car wash or right after hitting muddy trails. The self wash areas are great for hosing down the undercarriage also.
