As far as Jeep mods go you should just run it as is so you can figure out what you need. Its recommended that you dont go 4 wheeling alone.

I agree, run it stock for awhile and get a feel for your JK. You will be surprised what a Sport JK can do and more surprised what a Rubicon JK can do. I say invest your money recovery gear first then look into lift and tires.

Even more of a reason to invest your money in recovery gear. Believe me your JK is capable of a lot more than you think, even more so if you have a Rubicon. You will use your recovery gear more than anything else besides gasoline.

Well a winch is part of the recovery gear but its also expensive. Buy recovery straps, tree saver straps, and shackles if you have a hitch buy a hitch receiver shackle. An AEV jack base would be nice if you dont plan on buying a HI-Lift jack any time soon, or even get a Hi-Lift jack and save your self a headache or two. A snatch block would be nice even if you dont have a winch, it would help out those that do have a winch. Some tools will go a very long way when you go offroading, buy some sort of Shovel, Pick axe, Axe Head, or sledge hammer head carry some basic mechanic tools . Dont forget a flash light, i carry two flashlights in my Jeep. I also have a first aid kit not just some 12 pc simple kit but something that can cover a splinter to a broken bone.

Yes .... Ive been on the same trails three or four times and Ive always had something different happen. Something will eventually break or get stuck and you dont want to be stuck out with your hands in your pocket. Start with the recovery straps, the wider and longer the better, some shackles and a basic mechanic tool set and you will be good. Then as you venture offroad some more you will see the need for the rest of the items i mentioned. A winch should definitely be in your future if you ever plan to hit the trails more than 3 times a year. A good camping shovel that can either be folded or broken down into two pieces is very handy to have, im on my 2nd shovel in the 2 years ive owned my JK and Ive been on easy trails.

Yea recovery gear is a pretty broad term, you can get yourself out of a lot of trouble with just a jack and a shovel.
