justrok, I haven't seen one of these Britax seats in person, and I'm curious how it is held in place... in my earlier post I describe the manner in which the Radian 65 is held in place: either the UAS/LATCH system or shoulder/lap belt hold the childseat to the vehicle; the 5-point harness holds the child to the childseat.

With your Britax, are both the child and the childseat held to the vehicle with the shoulder/lap belt?

Yes it is held in by the lap and shoulder belt. THe shoulder is clipped at the neck (look for the red) and the lower belt is held in a deep notch that is as wide as the belt. The belts are held in the correct position.I would have prefered a 5 point for all of them but I think this is about as safe as you can get, especially for the 50-100lb kids. I seriously considered having a custom PRP bench with (3) 5pt harnesses built, but technically it would not be legal. I would love to see a cop write you up for bing too safe!

Good luck and get plenty of sleep, you are gonna need it!!!
Is this the Unlimited or 2dr? I was wondering If I could use the center of a 2dr for the car seat. Anybody know?

No the 2 dr seat is narrower than the unlimited and there is not a center seat belt or tethers. Plus it takes a bit of contorting to get between the seats and the pillar reaching to the center would just make it harder. Also with the 2 dr a rear facing seat it is bit of a challenge, when my youngest rides he goes in through the back and over the back of the seat to get buckled in.

TwinsJeep - do you have a picture you could post? I've got 14 month old twins and another son due in 6 weeks. Soon enough, we'll want to get 'em all in the Jeep! Any other thoughts on 3 across would be greatly appreciated.

Great thread! Thanks to all for the info. I am going to have my install job inspected.

Will all fire departments inspect car seats?

Go to a Babys R Us or a place with a bunch of car seats. I gave them my ID can I was able to take the models out to the car and test fit. You should be fine with three but you will have to try a few because you will have to position them facing the back and you will have to make sure that they don't hit the front seats. For the seat in the middle (non-latch), they have a ratchet lock type thing that will cinch and hold the center belt tight, it is easier and much tighter than those brass colored clips some people use. With the ratchet, you can tighten the seat down so tight, that it will not move at all. The one I had was blue and yellow.

If they dont most Police and Sheriff's departments will. We have our office schedule appointments and several show up at a time.
Here in New Mexico we have a car seat clinic the first Satruday of each month and it roatates between offices.

Default 2 front facing car seats ........2 dr wrangler

I notice all those with kids are going with the unlimited...If money was no object I would as well, but currently I can only afford a 2 door rubicon. Is anyone running car seats in a 2 door wrangler?

Thoughts on that?
