I know the classic situation is to have a Jeep with a stick.
But I seem to be doing pretty well with the auto!!

i'm thinking NOT.... but you auto guys can tell me.

i know the stick will creep down steep inclines in low gear, with NO brakes used... even with the 3.21's.
On the road in 2wd, cruise control on, 45 mph, I noticed once the tranny has settled into overdrive/lockup, it will downshift going down hill to use engine braking in order to keep from gaining too much speed. I never thought an automatic would do this.
This can be done manually, too:
Turn off overdrive;
Move lever from "D" to "2";
Move lever from "2" to "1";
Any of these actions, done at the appropriate time, will give good engine braking with an automatic (especially in 4low).

Manual Trans, I bought my Jeep the afternoon it came of the truck at the dealership. Test Drove it before it was cleaned up. They tried to get me in a 2wd with an Auto, but I wasnt buying that. The salesman said his father in law was going to come look at it. When we closed the deal he said " money talks, my father in law is going to have to wait"

I agree with a Jeep is just not a jeep without a Stick I picked up a 6spd yesterday and love it. I have owned 2 different CJ's through the years and the JK has one of the smoothest, easiest clutches I have ever used!!!! I could maybe see if I had to sit in traffic or drove in a congested city everyday, but its much more fun with a Manual....
