Default Attention Jeep owners in GERMANY

Is the 3rd brake light required in Germany? Will this cause issues when trying to pass inspection? Moving there in Sep.

I'm installing a bumper with tire carrier soon and planned on removing the 3rd brake light, but if it's required I'll have to come up with a plan.

Thanks.

Default It is required

A third light is required, but I've seen this set-up pass.

There are a few adjustable 3rd light brackets out there. I believe both Northridge and Quadratech have them.

Northridge sells this. Just so happens Wayoflife endorses the product.

I am stationed in Germany right now, they're inspections are insanely strict, you do need a 3rd brake light, all your lights have to be working including licence plate lights, and your tires cannot stick out past your fenders. when you go to get plates for your car in Germany you can get temp plates that are good for 30 days to allow you to bring your vehicle up to their standards and the temp plates can be renewed 1 time

Same topic. We may be moving to Germany this year working directly for the Army (not as a contractor) and I am getting very confused about the requirements for my Jeep.

What is the process? How much money should I set aside to bring my Jeep up to German requirements? I have a 2009 2 door stock so I do not have any after market parts, lifts, etc.

You should be good to go if your jeep is stock. People have problems when they bring their modified jeeps over.

I would also suggest adding maybe an LED strip under the tire, that looks good!

Thanks for the reply. I'm hopeful that as the process continues we will have good support from the Army on all the logistics of a move like this. I am scared to death of "hidden" costs as we do not have a big bank roll.
