Default anyone towed a travel trailer with jk

Just wondering if it would be feasible to tow a 24 foot travel trailer, it is a 1994 model. Also wondering if anyone has towed long distances with overdrive off and kept track of gas mileage change. Thanks for the info

Tow a trailer that's longer and heavier than the JK, with more tongue weight than the JK will support? You'll be lucky if you can get it rolling, let alone take it up a hill.

No

No

Your welcome....

Seriously, You have a weight restriction of 3500 lbs, and I KNOW a 24 footer exceeds that. I am going to purchase a 17 footer which is borderline loaded but well within the limits dry.

Recomend you have a look at tongue weight and towing (dry) weight.

Might be doable... I've towed a 1977 17' travelair loaded but without water in the tank... ~3000lbs I think. It was very noticable. I basically drove a gear lower (stick) than I would typically. I used a weight distributing hitch. Hills sucked.

Note the towing capacity with a weight distributing hitch is 4000lbs.

Also note that towing capacity is rated the same for 3.73 and 4.10 diffs, whereas it is drastically different between 3.21 and 3.73. My point is that 4.10's will likely provide slight improvement over 3.73, even though it's not documented.

Default thanks for all the replies

I haven't bought the camper yet, so I didn't know the tongue weight. I tried looking on internet, couldn't find anything. figured quickest way to get an answer was on here. Glad you guys didn't let me down. Not sure about the longer and heavier answer, if that was correct I wouldn't be able to pull it with a full size pickup. I know I can pull it with a pickup.

Hmm, can't seem to find the info ATM. The manual says 3500lbs, but I remember reading 4000lb with weight-distributing hitch either during or shortly after I installed the Mopar hitch (don't have towing package).

It could be that the hitch itself is rated to 4000lbs w/ WDH, 3500lb otherwise, and I wrongly assumed this meant the JK could tow 4000lbs with WDH. The more I think about it, this is very likely.

I'll try to find out where I read this.

If you go to the upper limits, make sure you have trailer brakes or it will push you right into harm's way.

Not no, but hell no !!! Go to someone like a camper or trailer dealer and talk to them. You also have a formula to figure wind resistance. Not only will this be an unpleasant ordeal, it will be extemely dangerous!!! I have a 20' low profile lite weight travel trailer and it weighs 4300 DRY !

This sounds dangerous. I've never towed, but I have friends that do and bigger trailers seem to always be towed by full sized trucks with v8's.

A 24 ft travel trailer you are looking at easily +4500lbs DRY for a 24' Feather light trailer and it gets heavier with the type of material the trailer manufacture uses....so I say that 24 is well over the JK limits. My 26.5ft fifth wheel weighs in at 6500lbs dry that I pull with my CTD.
