Feeling it here as well. I decided to take a road trip just as the prices started to go up too. Not the best timing in the world, but worth it for the road trip. Still haven't hit over $5.00 yet anywhere I've gone, but if you can, Costco's prices are usually $.10 cheaper on average if you have one nearby.

Let me ask the oh so vague question of "does it really matter to put in the top grade gas?" I mean, since gas prices are going bananas, would it really matter if the person was to fill up with regular as supposed to their normal fill up of premium? In some instances, the difference from regular to premium is close to $0.50-0.75. $0.50/gallon more x 22 gallon is $11 beans more, $0.75/gallon more x 22 gallons is $16.50.

Thoughts?

Correct me if I'm wrong but the 3.8 and 3.6 are both rated for 87 octane.

It's been proven time and time again that you really aren't gaining anything by running higher octane fuel than what you are rated for.*

*Altitude and racing gas aside.

Well, I was trying to do some research and find some more stuff on this exact topic... so, me putting in top grade is pointless? haha... i mean, i figured it would only "help" if anything....but if it doesnt, who cares.... 87 octane it is! haha

You really need higher compression than these engines have to benefit from mid or high octane.
