Default Anyone ever do a SRT4 engine swap?

I know the Hemi and diesel swap is king, but was wondering if anyone has ever done a SRT4 engine swap in a Wrangler? Looking at engine specs, the Neon SRT4 motor produced 215hp/245tq for the 03 model and 230hp/250tq for the 04-05 models, and the Caliber SRT4 makes 285hp/265tq.

Looking at it from a general perspective, the SRT4 motor makes more horsepower and torque then the venerable 4.0 and the 3.8, weighs less then a Hemi and gets better gas mileage. Plus with the aftermarket support, 400hp+ could easily be attained. Other than the engine possible spinning in the wrong direction, I wonder how hard it would be to do a SRT4 swap?

Also its a turbo on a 4 banger...you need RPMs to make power. Not exactly off road friendly

variable vane turbo = lower rpm boost capabilities but yeah, submerging a hot turbo isnt a good idea. a lil supercharged 4 banger might be a better idea.

isnt that motor designed for a FWD configuration? getting a bell to fit it and mate to the JK trans seems like it would be tough..

plus that little motor is designed to get off the line and go quick.. a high revving 4 banger is designed to run at Low Load High RPM situations... you take a light car like a caliber / neon... stomp it to the floor and you are up to speed quickly.. where you can then back off of WOT and cruise...

think about the weight of a JK.. you are likely to lug and detonate bad on take off.. requiring severe timing reduction, negating the usefuleness of the turbo until you get the revs way up... small turbo engines are not designed to overcome the heavy intertia of a heavy vehicle... Likewise that engine would likely not do so well if you were in a mud situation where you need to be on full power at medium RPM for an extended period of time..

to even have a fighting chance you would have to gear the heck out of the JK...

Not a good idea, like others have said the motor produces good torque from 3k+ depending on what type of turbo you have on the motor. Also I would believe that it just one more item to worry about while off road. You got to find a good spot to place the intercooler that allows it to get fresh cool air but you can't leave it to exposed that it will get trail damage.
