I think if the door lock buttons were on the dash someone could unlock the tailgate with the doors off.

About the only thing I can come up with...

They're always so amazed that the window buttons are on the center console.

I keep my vehicles a long, long time. Manual windows and locks hardly ever break. Electric is pretty much going to break. Then you're at Taco Bell having forgotten that, trying to back up and seesaw out from the building so that you can get your door open to pay the bill and collect your food.

Actualy on most cars the window control module is in the front left door. Our control modules are in the center dash for multiple door configs. If you take off your front doors you couldn't control the rear windows from up front. The rear switches for the back doors run through that same control module so if the front doors were off of an unltd the rear doors wouldn't work. does that make sense? And yes I love power windows and locks in my jeep. Had an older jeep with soft windows and manual locks, must be getting older and spoiled.

I dunno..... I kinda like the windows.... Especially in -40 degree weather

I love the power windows. You get to open or close ANY window in the Jeep without having to break your back trying to reach.

totally agree. the cherokee i drove for 10 years was manual windows and locks. leaning over to roll up the windows was always a hassle, not to mention forgetting and leaving one door unlocked making easy access for thieves So, yes technology and upgrades are good!
