Default Anybody Else Scammed At Dealer

When I picked up my JK I was completely caught off guard. They started trying to sell me alarms, protection packages, and extended warrenty. Needless to say I really didn't want them. But my wife wanted an alarm and the extended warrenty.

wound up getting some integrated mopar alarm for something like 400 markup and an extended warrenty 7 year 100K mi for 2000 extra.

man I feel scamed. I usually don't buy anything without researching and being prepared.

I feel like the stealer was trying to get back $ on the great deal I got.

Last car I bought they didn't try to upsell me on any warrenties or protection crap or some crappy alarm. I think the alarm bothers me most of all. I like not having to worry about the drive train for 7 years.

I could have replaced the crappy bumper with the $ spent on some crappy alarm system.

But the lady wanted an alarm.

If you got the Mopar 7yr / 100k mile warranty don't worry.. It's the best warranty on the market.. Its worth every penny.. My wife sells extended warranty's thru her bank and shes up on it all.. The mopar warranty is the only that cover gaskets and seals.. Also it covers the Radiator which very few do.. We only paid $1800 for it.. All dealers are different..

Every finance department should offer you products to help protect your new investment/purchase. The price of the warranty does not sound bad to me. Which warranty is it?

Powertrain
Added Care
Maximum Care

Not everyone walks out with their pants down when properly treated @ the dealership.

Thumbs up

Hi ! , I'm a total newbie but the warranty thing should be just fine.
One thing folks should know tho is that you dont need to buy it all at once.
Depending what the whole deal is and what warranty you get up front, you might be able to wait for for 3 or 4 years and THEN buy the extention etc.

I bought the total care plan for $1200 for 4 years as it does indeed cover every little thing including all free maintainence stuff like oil changes and the various major service points etc. ALL paid for already so to speak.

By doing that I get a good half of my money back in usage if everything stays perfect. lol

I sincerealy doubt things will stay perfect.. ya think?

Anyway It also gives me the right to purchase the extended total protection 4 years from now if I'm still alive and my wife has not buried my in my jeep as yet I mean....

So anyway don't feel bad be glad! you gots a jeep and some peace of mind... well hopefully you'll aquire that after reading posts here.

If any dealer says that, I'd find another one.... that is just not right!!

Ok

well I just wasn't prepared for it. It was like being blindsided. nobody told me now that you are going to wright us a big fat check how about we sell you some more crap. Especially when I have a policy against buying any warrenty. but a $30K car is different than say a $1k TV.

I feel the ony thing I got screwed on was the 400 dollar alarm thingy that is suppost to intigrate with the factory alarm and have some motion sensors. heck I should have gone aftermarket for that. I have no idea what it is how it works or anything. Just that it gets installed next week. oh heck but what is 400 bucks it grows on trees right.

I am fine on the powertrain. The rubicon is just the way I like it. except for the bumpers. I would like to upgrade those. but I feel the stance is perfect for me.

wish the rock rails had some steps though. I will be lifting my kids in for a long time.

I think I would wait until the three year warranty is up, and then get the extended one. They usually mail you something around that time and ask you if you want to buy it THEN .
Seems to me though .........I've often heard of people buying it and then when something went wrong ..........it was never covered , they always come up with some excuse as to why YOUR PROBLEM doesn't fit into the plan. The thought of the extended warranty always left a bad taste in my mouth !! Just my .02

You were offered additional items, and you chose to purchase them. How is that being "scammed"?

If your not sure about the extended warranty you should be able to cancel it and get your money back or most of it anyway. I had an extended plan on my cobalt ss and paid 500 for it. I traded the car in about 7 months later and canceled the warranty and got about 400 back. Its prorated so if your not wanting it cancel it soon.
