why not just buy a used Rubicon with low miles?

I bought one cheaper than a new X, with 6,000 miles..

I like my X got a good deal on it, and with the money saved I was able to get tires, wheels, lift kit, and a bunch of other goodies right away and get it to looking and driving the way I wanted.

I opted for the X because I knew I was going to change the suspension, tire size, gears, etc. Except for the front axle and the transfer case ration being different, it wasn't worth it to me to pay the extra $7K to $10K difference between the X and the Rubi. Besides, when I get done with my X, it will be more capable than a Rubi and cost the same as an off the floor Rubi.

The lifetime drive train warranty doesn't transfer. Also, I personally ended up getting the lifetime wrap as well. Anyway, my cost on the jeep out the door with the lifetime wrap was $29. This is an X, hardtop, with the 24S package. Consider that I had about $1300 in taxes, title, registration, $1800 for the lifetime wrap (killer deal on that), means I paid about $25,900 for my 4dr X unlimited with the 24S package. Oh yeah, I got 3 free oil changes to boot.

I'm curious as to how the 5.13's affected your gas mileage?

I am unsure after my first wheeling experience this weekend. I have 3.73 gears and an auto, the engine braking sucked. My daughters S10 Blazer with 700r4, 231 t-case and 3.42 gears crawled better and didn't have to hit the brakes going down hill. The 4 to 1 t-case would have been better. As for performance, it surprised everyone where it would go stock with stock street tires. I will post some pix and vids this weekend when I get home.

I really have no idea why I didn't buy a Rubicon... I could have easily afforded it, the extra equipment would have helped me out on several occasions, and I spent a good amount of money buying Rubicon parts for my X... Not to mention that it bugs me to see soccor moms driving around in Rubicons, when me a Jeep freak has an X with few options.

However the winch and BFGs I put on make me feel way better. I am suddenly one of the coolest Jeeps in town again. Until I put on my stock 245/70/R16s again for the winter! Haha.

PS I don't recommend 3.21 gears to anybody.

I don't regret my X one bit. At the time the cost was better, and now I can do all the upgrades I want to make it exactly what I want!

Not at all!!!! Sure it would be nice to have lockers, the dana 44 front, and the 4.10 gears but I have been everywhere my friend's 4 door rubicon with 35s has been. Needless to say, I surprise a lot of people with my X
