Any rental experience?
I'm not sure if this is the right board, but....
We and the wifey are about to take a well deserved trip to a small island where they have a beach, beer, sun, and Jeep rentals.
Any one have any experience/stories with overseas Jeep rentals?
(Is this 'two-timing?')

Hey. I rented a 2 dr X in Hawaii, not quite overseas, but close. It was awesome, highly recommend it. Just something great about driving by some mountains and just looking up through the roof when the top's down as opposed to craning your neck through the windshield or windows. One word of advice, as with any rental, go over the vehicle carefully before leaving, marking down any scratches, etc, especially on the soft top windows. If you get an agent that doesnt realize how easily the soft top windows scratch, could be a hassle. Have fun!

I rented one in San Jose CA, the best way to see the area. So I am sure that any tropical local a Jeep would be the perfect ride.
The only thing I would be concerned with is if you are traveling to an area that has Right drive vehicles, a manual transmission can be difficult to get the hang of when everything is flipped around. An auto would be a piece of cake.

There was a recent thread about some one who rented one in Puerto Rico - seemed like they had a good experience - https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-trails-tales-71/jk-jeepin-puerto-rico-07-a-28670/

Being an avid Jeeper since 2000 and loving my Jeeps. After having rented a Jeep on our honeymoon to Hawaii in 2006. I can honestly say.. rent a convertible car. I'm sorry, but when on vacation in a hotel.. I'm not taking my doors off. I don't want to have to fight with a top when a sudden rain storm hits. The week we went to Hawaii was around the time they had all those floods. I was totally envious of those guys who rented convertibles. It'd start raining and they'd pull to the side, hit a button and go. I'd stop, work on the top for a couple minutes then go.
Sorry, like I said. I love my Jeeps but on vacation where I'm not off-roading and staying at a hotel.. Convertible car all the way.
Heck, even if it only stopped raining for two minutes the guys with convertible cars would have their top down. I wasn't going to take the top down for 2 minutes of sun. Although I did just leave the windows off the whole time. But still.

I go to Hawaii pretty much every years, I used to always rent a jeep and had a blast. It is actually this experience that made me want to buy one for myself later on. Get one I really think you won't regret it...

Right there with ya! I go every year too and this most recent time back in January went to the big island for a few days. Off-roading through a lava field is unreal. Cars would attempt the trip and rarely make it of course. It was renting in Hawaii the past few years that made me want to get one, and I just picked up my first jeep from the dealership on Friday!
