I have finally decided that I want the jk unlimited I know I will put 35's on it with the automatic and 4.10 gears. Will this setup handle light duty towing like a 18ft boat? Do I wait to see if diesel or v8 become available next year? Love to see pics or hear stories of JK towing.
Thanks

I am going to pick up my 18' Chaparrel from it's 20 hour service on Monday. I will be sure to post some pics and tell you how it handles on the way home. The boat comes in at 32-34 hundred pounds with trailer and fuel filled.
The drive home from Destin to my house is about 15 miles and about 6 lighted intersections, so I don't expect alot of trouble at all. The Rubicon has a 3500 tow rating, so we'll see. I waited until I got over 500 miles on the odometer like the owners book says before I will tow, so... :toung:

I would be curious to see how it handles. Do you use a ramp or dock it during the season? I have a small 13" Bost Whaler but plan to upgrade to an older 17" whaler with ~ 90 or 110 HP. I would be pulling it in and out of a generally poor, steep ramp where I go out on the Bay (MD). Curious, did you install the 6 or 7 pin wiring or did it come with it? My whaler has 4 pin but my popup camper has 6pin and I need to make the upgrade. I saw another post with their description - seemed easy but was curious if you went through the same.

nice boat...I have a 180br too...
Not sure thats going to be doable to tow, with 4 people and all that weight.
I never have to tow mine, as you can see I keep it at the marina. But if I did, I would probably tow it with my Grand Cherokee.

Here's mine. Towed an 18' at around 3500 lbs. I would recommend trailer brakes of some kind. Towing is no problem, stopping is a cautious effort. give yourself alot of extra distance.

I have a stock Sahara jk unlimited 4x4, 18" wheels and tow an 18' Cavavelle v6 w/2 wheel trailer aprox 30 miles to the lake one way. The jk tows fine it's stopping that scares me. The jk's brakes are pitiful at stopping #3500 lbs.
