Any real world towing pics.
I have finally decided that I want the jk unlimited I know I will put 35's on it with the automatic and 4.10 gears. Will this setup handle light duty towing like a 18ft boat? Do I wait to see if diesel or v8 become available next year? Love to see pics or hear stories of JK towing.
Thanks

I don't actually own a boat yet, but the one I would plan to buy in the near future is crownline 180br. Boat+trailer+fuel+gear= about 3600 lbs. Add the 35's and 4 people in the jeep I just don't know if the 3.8 will have what it takes. I wouldn't be driving far maybe 50 miles one way to lake at the most. Anybody use there unlimited to tow yet?

I guess no one tows with their jk's. Oh well I guess I will have to test drive one and see if the 3.8 meets my expectations. Or just wait to see is v8 or diesel becomes available.

I just ordered a hitch for my 2door jk. All I'm going to tow with
mine are a pair of jetskis, a motorcycle and a utility trailer. (not at the same
time )
I'll post more when I get the hitch installed

I have an 18ft. boat but I keep it on a lift. I am going to need to put it on the trailer and take it to get serviced soon though, and will be towing it with the JK so I'll be sure to post my experiences in how it handles. I expect it will tow the boat better then our Liberty, even though the Liberty has a towing capacity of 5,000 lbs. We've towed it all the way down to the Keys in the Liberty, and I plan on doing the same with the JK.

I pulled a 6x10 enclosed trailer behind mine last week. It was empty, so just a hair over 1000 lbs. Plenty of wind resistance though. I could really tell it was back there at 70 mph. Not wagging or anything but passing at that speed with the auto tranny winds it up pretty good. If you put the tires on without gearing it would be a complete dog while towing.
