Is there any real data on this? I can't believe the jk is the only vehicle out there catching fire. Car-B-Ques are the norm in Md. I see them all the time.

we have had a couple in australia go up, mainly cause by people on the sand, we were discussing on one of our forums down under ( ausjeepoffroad.com) that some sort of a breather or clip for the dipstick might fix the problem. Just thinking out loud. Actually funnily enough the story even made it to a national current affairs show so god knows what that will do to wrangler sales not to mention how current owners will feel about the secondhand market, I am pretty sure the ass will fall out of the secondhand market for these unless something is done. Even if insurance companies are will to cover them as a manufacturer fault. Guess jeep wont be laughing when a fatality occurs because you cant get your kid out quick enough.

All it takes is 3 things heat, fuel and O2. Everything is there for a good Jeep roast, all it takes is a small fuel leak or good wire melt down. Something silly that the factory over looked. Sad to say but I have put out several cars where the owner was driving down the road felt a spudder or started to smell smoke then poof flames!!! Hard to stop it from burning with all that plastic and gas. Even had one that burnt the house with it. That's a bad day
