The Expedition One third brake light could be a solution for you. For $20, it's worth a shot. I contemplated hacking the original third brake light, but between trimming the mount and having to fabricate some type of riser... I decided to just go with the Exp-One item.

If you want to move your tag to the center of the wheel/tire you can use the ORO tag relocation that had an LED for the tag and 3 red LEDs for the 3rd brake. Just an option.

Not running ACE. But LOD brake light extension would work for you as it mounts to the gate. I'd look at the ones that mount in the wheel holes though. Can't remember who makes them. Delta maybe?
