I know with RubyJeep (Rhonda's 2008 Rubicon) her rattle was comming from the little shift knob indicator that was loose. Both of our Jeep sticks wiggle some.

For what it's worth, I've discovered that the rattle that seems to annoy everyone in the Jeep except for me comes from my ring. When I hold the shifter loosely, and it shakes a bit, it hits the ring on my finger and makes for a nice rattling noise.

I guess, yes, my shifter shakes a bit as well, more violently off road than on. So far no problems, has been so on other vehicles as well, but not as pronounced. I guess it's normal, but I never put too much thought into it.

well mine is not from a ring but its not really that big a deal. no major problems i was just making shure it wasnt damaging. Still dont know about this shift knob indicator. "Where the speeds are?" From that quote im thinking somewhere near the speedometer but its a manual and there no indicators telling me what gear im in. Still new so please bear with me.

I think he was referring to the top of your shift knob that shows the gear pattern. My shifter shakes as well depending on what I'm traveling over. I think a fair amount of shaking is normal.

my shifter itself rattles as soon as i hit rough terrain...i am wondering if by changing the transmission mount to a polyurethane mount will it be more tighter and rattle less...any thoughts on this?my tj 's five speed did not rattle as much ,but we are talking about a whole different breed with the jk...
