Default 4.7 V8 in 2008?

I'm new here so please pardon my question if it has already come up. I have searched but didn't find anything that answers this question. I've been test driving the JK and have been very dissappointed with the performance of the automatic and the 3.8L. Very litte low end torque and a confused automatic. I live at 7,200ft. and drive up a fairly constant 6% grade for 5.4 miles to get home. The auto is not well matched to the 3.8L (even with 4.10's) for this particular drive. I have to reach down and lock out O/D so that it will not keep upshifting/downshifting constantly. The stick is much better but I was wanting to get an automatic. I'm was hoping to either get more torque or a better automatic (programming) so that I am not frustrated driving home every day.

Thanks,

DEWFPO

Actually, at this time, I'm having a hard time believing we'll see any new engine in the JK until 2010 and that'll most likely be a diesel.

I'm seriously considering Burnsville Offroad for a motor swap.

I dont know with the room under the hood and the all new 4 door. I would not be the least bit surprised to see a V8 in next years model. And I will be the first in line to trade mine in...

There is a TSB (#1803606) about a PCM Flash that installs the updated and completed software for the JK. I read about it in another thread and how it helps out the automatic shifting big time and it also seems to help out power and performance in general, i.e. more predictable and consistant power curve. I personally have the 4DR JK Rubicon with a 6-speed and i'm pretty happy, for as big and heavy as it is, my buddy's camaro can't keep up. Granted his camaro is a v6 model, but its got an intake, headers, exhaust and a few other things... and doesn't weight nearly what the JK does. I've also read in another thread that Intake, muffler, and Jet chip make a noticable difference. I put on an intake and i sure felt the gains. At the same time, i don't live at the elevation you do, but i've got some real good hills around my little town and can make it up a couple in 6th, some in 5th, and all of em in 4th... unless i want to jet rocket up them, then i shift to third and fly up the hill like its not even there. I'm sure the auto drives a lot different, but really, look into that TSB. Good luck

Default Forced Induction?

What about supercharger options for the 3.8? Any ideas?

Was at a dealer yesterday. After going through the "let's see what kind of deal I can get ya," I started to b.s. with the salesman. He pretty much told me if I waited for the 08 model year that the 4.7 Magnum most likely would be an option. I'd take it with a grain a salt, we've all heard how knowledgable most salesmen are.
