33s too much?
I have been talking to some old jeep guys they are telling me that a 33 is too big of a tire and I will hate to ride in my jeep after I put on a 33. And he said if I do it 11.50 wide not 12.50.
I plan on getting 305/70-16 or 285/75-16 with a 2.5 coil lift and new rims so I don't need spacers. I have a stock 2dr X
Do I need to regear to be happy with this size tire or is this guy full of it.
Thanks

I just had my 33" Duratracs (275/70/18) put on last week. The majority of members here seemed to be happy with them so I bit the bullet. IMO the 33's and my 2.5" lift are a perfect match. No worries about regearing as the power loss is so minimal.

33's are perfect without a lift or just a mild lift...With that 2.5 inch lift you might consider 35's...
If your going aftermarket wheels don't worry about the tire width..12.50 will be fine..
I drive an 07 Automatic with 4:10's...I'm running 33's and to be honest There's not much difference if any at all...

33'S on an old jeep is like 35's on a new. you will notice alot going to 35's but not 33's. the only thing that will make a difference is the tread patern. i first went up to BFG's A/T and noticed more traction, but when i went to the BFG's M/T they dug in and hooked up so well that it felt like a power loss until i realized it was more of a traction gain and was well worth it.

Some one is full of BOLOGNA...or maybe just jealous!

33x12.50R17 with 3:73 gearing...love the look, ride and very little powerloss. I would stick with a wider 33's...just looks better IMHO. Add a mild 2" lift and you are laughing for off-road flexing!
Before 2" lift & 33's
After 2" lift & 33's
