If you regear, I think you should be cool. It's an odd little engine, but it's a good one.

Now CRD... that's the way and the light right there.

I test drove a 4 dr with a soft top and the 4.10 gears option yesterday and I though it had alot of power. We are going to get one with a hardtop but I can't imagine the top weighing it down too much. We really liked it soo much that the wife is almost for sure going to trade in her beloved XJ.

I test drove a 4-Door X with a hard top and an auto and it seemed to have enough power. I believe it had 3.73's and with bigger tires, I think it might struggle a bit. Although, if it had a stick, I'm sure it'd be no problem up to a 33" tire.

I drove a 4 door sahara 4x4 auto 3.21 ratio 18" rims hard top a/c on and it was just as fast(or slow)as my 2003 tj sahara 5 speed with k&n cold air filter.I then ordered a 2007 Dr 4x4(or 4x4x4) sahara hard top 6 speed 4.10 ratio 18" rims anti-spin axle.I loved the 4.0 I but she gone now and we must move on.the 3.8 moves 300 lbs more keep the mpg a little better and helps the handling,i have 4 jeeps with the 4.0 and i must say the 3.8 seems better for where I live in south fl.and we do not have many rock here just sand and mud so the higher rpm on the 3.8 is good for us off road.
