Awesome info guys. I appreciate the feedback. I think what I will do is get a dual battery set up to run my winch and compressor on.

Totally, but the spare must be mounted with a tie-down as strong as the battery under the hood. Also, a flooded cell battery can spill in a roll-over so the interior of the Jeep is not a good place.

Best place for a spare battery is a dual battery tray under the hood, even if you don't invest in the dual-battery hookup right away.

I know you said you leave it running when winching but I hope your doing that when using the compressor too. I did more winching this year than I think Ive ever done in my life and the stock battery has thus far held up. Im thinking it might just be a streak of good luck though. Im planning on going with a good deep cycle starting battery when this one gives it up, which Im sure it will. Not sure what the climate is like where your at but extreme cold or heat can zap a battery too.

I killed mine at 10000 miles to the point where I couldn't even jump it. Replaced with an optima battery had no problems since

For sure! I always run the jeep when airing up.

I've been running dual Sears Platinum (made by Oddysey) AGM 850 CCA with Cole Hersee Smart Isolator for 8 months now and have several big pulls on them with the winch on the 2nd battery. Night and day difference in performance over my old single stock battery. Good luck in upgrading your batteries; even a single deep cycle AGM will be solo much better than stock.

I ended up using a M.OR.E tray. There are other good ones as well.

I have a pretty big marine battery, It's rated for 115 AH and 750 marine cranks. If the Jeep ever rolls over, I'll have way bigger things to worry about, so that is not a concern for me. I carry it in the back just in case, when I think I may need it.
