My view is that they'll continue to offer a V6 w/ auto or manual transmission + offer the diesel w/ auto only. AND, I'll bet they only offer the diesel/auto combo on the 4-dr. The 2-dr will be stuck with the V6.

Place your bets!

If Jeep did that I'd be beyond pissed.

I wouldn't see the point if the following conditions are met: it's 5k more, diesel cost more, it has less HP (more torque though) and same towing. If those were all true, I wouldn't see the point, for me anyway.

Diesel sounds great, but not too excited about the 8 speed.

diesel is a very hard to find fuel, most gas stations dont carry it and if they do its usually only on one pump. What a PITA!!!!!!

Diesel in a Wrangler will never happen for America as their is no market for it. With the new fuel sipping petrol engines now tractor engines will not be installed.

It's about time they put a Diesel in the Wrangler, but no Manual Transmission...what...It's a mistake to offer a Diesel Auto only, offroading with an auto transmission, are you kidding me.

I agree, it seems like things are always just one shy. They do a lot well but never just right.

Same towing is not a true statement.
The 2.8 CRD diesel in an unlimited has a 7715 pound tow load. The 3.8 gasser for the same year is 3500 pound.
The Gargoylette's 3.0 diesel grand cherokee has a 7200 pound tow load.
The demand is out there....Do you see a lack of diesel pick-up trucks or cube vans on the road?
