He'll need to also get the "optional" iPod / USB cable- PN 82212160. Both can be found for about $300. He can do the installation, it's quite simple for most people. After the install he'll need to take the vehicle to the dealer to have it flashed to sales code "RSP". Then it'll power up and function. If he calls around, he'll find a dealer to do it for about $50, some will want to charge an hr labor (about $100). But it takes less than 15 minutes to do.
Thanks for the further details xsdbs!!

xsdbs,

The optional ipod cable gives iPod control from the radio controls correct? I just want to confirm since that question came up earlier.

Also along the techy side of things, where I know you'll probably know what I'm talking about....That iPod accessory cable, does it control the ipod through the serial control connection of the iPod or is it through a USB communication connection? I know the USB connection requires the device to have Apple's authentication chip inside of it.

Sorry Really off topic ... But how did you get your display to be dark colors like that? And what version is running on the radio?

Rednroll,
1) correct, this cable (on 2011 & newer models) allows you to control & view functions thru the radio itself, where as the older cable (PN 82212000) for 2010 & older you need to perform functions from the iPod / iPhone itself.
2) The functions are performed thru the USB communications Data (+) & Data (-) terminals on the USB line.
3) Also did you by chance see the person on the last post (I think it was 35) on this link? He had a question that you had been talking with another poster about a short while back.

@ Chris,
If you have the 430 or the 430N radios this is the needed kid. It is also for the RES radio that has the Uconnect buttons on it. If someone has the RES radio without the Uconnect buttons then the Mopar kit PN is different (PN 82213221) the optional iPod cable is the same PN.

This must be for 2013 models only because I can't do this on my 2012?
