2013 Rubicon 10th Anniversary edition!
#22
I'm looking for a venting hood, haven't found what I want, and opened this thread to see if there's finally a hood with properly designed vents.
The hot air outlets are supposed to be located where most of the hot gathers, and that's at the curves on both sides, towards the cowl.
At the right side, near the battery, it's usually even warmer than at the left side.
This "anniversary" hood would NOT vent the hot air from the engine – most of that air goes further back under the hood. The vents are too much forward.
Also… why, on earth, design a hood so it collects water or muddy water, and drains it into the engine bay?! – Just like the AEV hood…
"No harm done by some water going to the engine bay" is no reason to MAKE water and mud go there.
On both the anniversary Rubi and the AEV, dirt would constantly collect in the sunken area.
On a properly designed hood, the vents would be above the hood surface and not bellow it.
With all the wealth of accessories for Jeeps, no one has come up with a really functional venting hood.
This anniversary hood design is nothing but a sales gimmick.
