Just what does this quote refer to?

"The days of the square cars from the 80’s are over as aerodynamics have even reshaped the biggest box of them all, the 2013 Jeep Wrangler."

The 2013 will look just like the 2012. That quote means nothing.

I agree with this. However, I think that quote is speaking of a timeline from the 80’s to now, not 2012-2013. They’re boxy by today’s standards, but very curvy compared to 30 years ago.

Last I heard the Wrangler isn't slated for a body design change until the 2014/15 model year. They won't change it too much. Look at the backlash they got when they removed the traditional hood fasteners and went to a regular hood latch

If they ever do end up building a smaller version of the Wrangler, they may make the new model more aerodynamic. My wife would love a more fuel efficient Wrangler.

I'm not opposed to seeing what the future holds, but it better be the most capable wrangler that jeep have ever dreamed of.

I think the only way they can sell a more aerodynamic Jeep(which would probably be a significant design change), would be if they made it significantly more capable than the current offering. The could pull it off, but they would risk alienating the loyalists and leaving behind years of branding, which with Jeep, the key to the branding is the unique design.
