Default 2012 Rubicon Price

Hello,

I just spoke to a guy that purchased a 2012 Rubi Unlimited - Hard Top. I was told he paid $29k for it.

Can anyone confirm this? I plan to go shopping this weekend and trade my 2011.

Thanks in advance!

I payed 38K for mine but 4 door, automatic, leather, nav... MSRP was 42K for mine I am sure there are cheaper options without all the added stuff.

It's possible, but I think unlikely. MSRP for a base JKU Rubicon is $33.5k plus the dealer tack on for delivery (so $34.4k). Assuming that he purchased a base, soft top, no options, manual vehicle... he could have got out the door for $29k-ish. Dealerships rarely carry the very basic Rubicon. I spent two months trying to find one (in a 2-door).

OP says hardtop... I say if you can get a 2012 rubi hard top for 29k jump on it..... no matter what the options.

Given that... we are talking MSRP of $36k (with delivery). There's not that much wiggle room to get it down to $29k. $32k... maybe a hair lower, but I highly doubt dude got it at $29k without some type of down payment or trade-in.

I was thinking the same thing knowing I paid 29K for my 2011 unlimited sport out the door with a list of $32k. Which I thought was a smokin deal at the time. Then I heard this and had to ask around.

There is wiggle room between MSRP and what the dealer pays for the vehicle, that wiggle room is comprised of many factors. If your friend paid $29k for that particular vehicle, it means the dealer probably ate approx. $2,500. There would have to be a really good reason for the dealership to choose to eat that kind of money on a new model vehicle that is in high demand. If your friend paid $29k and put down, say, $3,500... I could believe that.

Invoice on a 2012 Unlimited Rubicon with only one (1) option... Hard top is $33,153.00. The dealer gets 3% holdback which is $994.59. So if the dealer sold him the Jeep at true cost it would be $32,158.41. If he bought it when USAA was giving their $1,000 rebate that would drive the cost down to $31,158.41. If he paid less than this then the cost involves a downpayment or a trade-in, neither of which should be included when a person is telling you how much they paid for a vehicle. Also the price you pay should not include sales tax as all states have different rates and the taxes are dependant on the trade-in or lack of a trade-in.

I paid 1.5% below invoice on my 2012 Rubicon and then I got the USAA $1,000 rebate on top of that...

Man, just trying to get a dealer to give you a competitive quote over the phone is brutal. It's like pulling teeth. I get why they want you to come in, but heck, it's 2012 right? We do everything over the internet. I have 1 quote so far and the guy wants $800 under sticker for a sport with auto and hardtop. I told him he was way out of the ballpark and he told me he would be talking to me after I realized everyone else would be more....UGH!. I know I can get it for less than that.
