2012 JK Sport for a 2007 X Unlimited? Am I nuts?

that dealer is going to love you b/c he is going to make so much money off your 12 when he flips it... You might want to post to the local forum or craigs list asking for a trade... you could probably get a 4 door with better mods traded straight up

I've been off the forum for a while and it's good to be back. I was pretty shocked to see newer JKs having bad cylinders and getting heads replaced. Now there's this swishing sound in the 13's.
I don't think your crazy. The 4 door seems to fit the lifestyle you lead so why not? Get what makes sense for you. After reading all about the 12's and 13's, you couldn't pry my hands off my 08's steering wheel.
And yes, I do understand that it's not the majority of owners that are dealing with these issues.

I think so. 07's had the most problems.....go figure...it was the 1st year of the J/K. I'm not saying 07's are bad, but you're trading down 5 years and 50K miles just for a 4 door. Since the J/K you currently have, has the newer engine, better trans, you should be able to get something newer like a 2009-2010 4 door with a few less miles.
I would almost trade you for my 2009 4 dr J/K Sahara if I didn't love the 4 door so much.

Thanks everyone for the feedback - but......I made the swap. And, I've gotta say, that after only 1 day, it's proven to be more convenient. I know that Ive given up a lot, and it's not an apples to apples trade, but the dealership made it worth my while and I really didn't lose my ass. I can feel the difference in the engine, but with 95% of my driving being right in town, it's....eh...moot.
And, naturally, the first thing to do, because I live in upstate NY was to start the undercoating process while adding some 1.5" wheel spacers. And by Wednesday, she'll have a Besttop NX softtop on her!
