There are gears in the hub.

Basically, the axle inserts into a gear as opposed to the direct center of the hub.

If you look close or go to the other link you will see that the front flare is sectioned / split, to allow the door to open.

The fender is part of the door. So they open together.

And as a J10 owner, I LOVE the J12 and would LOVE to own one.

Mighty FC is awesome. I'd want a full roll cage in the back with bench seating and the whole thing tarp-covered. Another article about it popped up on Fox News website today.
