2010 unlimited mountain ?
#13
Hey guys,
I'm about to pull the trigger on a '10 unlimited Mountain Edition. I received this e-mail from the dealer today:
"We have black mountain 4 door unlimited 4X4, HARD TOP, $36975 LIST, SALE PRICE $30500"
Any tips on how to get this price down? It's a leftover '10 that I'm sure he wants off his lot. I read in another thread that 20% off msrp is a good goal for a year old model. Should this apply to the "Sale" price?
Thanks for helping a newbie!!

Just email him back with a lowball offer and wait for a response.
As a side note I wish that black hood decal was available on all Wranglers...helps reduce sun glare for those of us with light sensitive eyes.

There's a reason why it's still on the lot. However, 20% off is pretty good for a 10 model. What real options does it have?
D44 front - no,
4-1 t-case - no -
electronic sway bar - no.
Price? the SAME as a BRAND NEW 2011 JKU Rubicon.
The Rubicon is 30,995. Which would you rather have, looks or function?
If you want a mountain, that's fine, but at least bring in the Rubicon post from Carmax that shows you can get an 11 Rubicon for the same price and tell him to come down at least 1000 more.
Sorry for the harsh news, but your money is hard earned. Get the most out of it..

I have a 2010 black JKU mountain edition and love it.
IMO the higher MSRP is balanced out by the add-ons. I would have gotten the side steps and rubber floor mats anyway plus I like the wheels/tires and seats. Also, the little things like the gas cap, hood sticker and rear tail light covers. To add all of those to an X would cost more than the mountain option.
As far as gettiing a rubicon instead, a 2011 rubi JKU with similar options would be a lot more money. For me, I don't do serious enough wheeling to need the lockers/front d44 and sway bar disco. So, they would just add extra weight and more to go wrong.
As far as the price, I bought mine at the end of the summer. My MSRP was about 31900 and I paid 28500 and got 0% for 36months. It is a 6 spd with mountain package, tow package, LSD, side airbags and infinity stereo w/ sirius.

I bought a 2010 4 door mountain edition black, back in Aug. They wanted 32,500 for it and I ended up paying 29,000. You should be able to get them down to at least 28,000.
